Another huge turnout of sketchers - this group is growing quickly.
I always enjoy getting immersed into drawing then meeting up to see all the sketchbooks.

Georgetown
Another large group turned out for the Seattle Urban Sketchers August meetup. I worked hard to keep the white of the paper for this silver scooter in front of the Jules Maes Saloon. When the sketch was done it just did not look right - so it became a red scooter.

Tacoma Museum of Glass
Infinity pool with Museum of Glass beyond.
It was so inspiring to meet sketchers from all over the region. Great location with lots of sketching subjects.

Seattle Central Library
Another fun sketching meetup at the Central Library. I was drawn (no pun intended) to this transparent greenish yellow escalator as soon as I walked in the building.
This unique artwork is cut into the wall along the escalator. Images of faces are projected onto the ball shapes behind the wall.
After sharing our work near the coffee shop, I went across the street to see if I could get the main mass and volume of this building figured out. Not sure I quite got it - but since there are not too many right angles in the building - who will know?
I really enjoyed Gabi's presentation. It is inspiring to meet up with such a great group of people each month!

Old Rainier Brewery - Bartholomew Winery

Four of us are guilty of sketching indoors while enjoying a bottle of wine at Bartholomew rather than braving the March elements. This is proof that friends do let friends drink and draw.

Stimson Green

I was not sure if we would be able to use ink and watercolor inside the mansion, so I brought graphite pencils and worked outside of my comfort zone yesterday. Turns out, ink and watercolors were fine - as you will see as more people post their sketches. Fun day and a great winter location to sketch.

Wing Luke Museum

Thank you, Gail. This was a great location for sketching. I really enjoyed the tour and learning more about the International District. Fun tidbit was learning that Wing Luke made friends in school through his sketches.
We took the guided tour then had a short time to sketch in a few of the hotel rooms. The limited time forced me to jump right in and sketch directly in pen - something I rarely do. The quick sketches made me sketch loose and fast. Not the greatest sketches, but I learned a little about working quickly and directly.

32nd World Wide Sketch Crawl

S. Fourth and Forest - Sunshine in SODO!
As you can see, I was east of Susan on the other side of the parking lot. Fun location to sketch. Wish I would have had more time today as a number of things appealed to me for sketching.

Winter in July?

Sculpture plaza near Amazon - absent were any signs of people on this rainy Sunday morning in Seattle.
Living in Seattle we have mild winters, but unfortunately, sometimes summer looks a little too much like winter.

Met up with the group at Othello Station.
Second stop - Tukwila Station
Started some sketches at Tukwila, then headed down the street for some lunch before returning to finish. Helped to warm up the hands a little.

Cold but Great Turnout
Cold day at the Market - but still a great place to sketch. Decided to skip the watercolor addition on my line drawing and instead headed over to Beechers Cheese to warm up and try one of "Oprah's Favorite Things". Their Mac and Cheese did not disappoint!

Sketchcrawl - Seattle International District

I enjoyed the crisp fall day in the International District.
The Dragon Poles made a fun subject to draw. A bypaser
told me there were 20 dragon poles. I guess I have 18
more to draw!

Ballard Farmer's Market
I really enjoy the sketchbook exchange part of our group.
Fun sketching outing even with the crazy downpour. Glad the sun finally arrived.
