New Logo for USk Seattle!

Urban Sketchers Seattle has a brand new chapter logo designed by long-time USk Seattle member and blog correspondent David Hingtgen! Many thanks to David for the beautiful design incorporating iconic Mt. Rainier.

A variation of the global USk logo, our chapter logo is based on the official Urban Sketchers organization Logo Identity Guide, which shows appropriate usage of the logo. If you have questions about logo usage, please talk to Tina, Kate or Jane.

Super Bowl XLIX

I did this while watching the Super Bowl and after the game I just couldn't finish it.
Things were better on Monday.   I sketched in pencil and added notes and line direction.
Then came ink and color.  It is fun just letting it happen and not worrying too much about
a grid structure for the layout.

Deja Blue and Green

I sketched this from the TV and Replay images from which their were many.
It was great fun and added a different dimension to the excitement of the game.

Starbucks Roastery and Tasting Room

I went to the New Starbucks Roastery for the Ad Hoc Sketchcrawl and had a great time.
I didn't see anyone else there but it was packed with people and there was a line to get in complete with security.   There are a ton of interesting things and details to sketch.

UW Botany Greenhouse

It was like a mini trip to the Southwest and I was dressed for the North. What a wonderful oasis.
Thanks to Doug Ewing for being so generous.  I thought the pepper plant was interesting because it was so
benign looking yet it was cordoned off with warnings taped to the floor.

Seattle Flight Museum

I took an out of town guest to the Flight Museum.  I thought the Shuttle trainer would be ready but alas I think I just missed it.  There are so many things to see and sketch. I love all of the shapes.

UW Commencement 2013

I attended my youngest daughters graduation from the U of W and I wanted to have something to remember the day,  so I brought my sketchpad.

Sketchcrawl at SAM

I rode the Bus to the Sketchcrawl which provided many sketch opportunities.  The third in the top series is my attempt a Sketch Reportage.   A group of people came on the Bus without paying  and at the next stop three Transit Police boarded and got rid of the scofflaws.   While sketching Hammering Man I never really realized how much he looks like ET.  I love how people interact with it.  The little boy in the sketch posed for a picture while tickling HM's heel.

Sons of Norway Bazaar in Ballard

Over the weekend the Sons of Norway had their annual Fall Bazaar which is a kick off for the Holiday Season with Arts and Crafts and great food.
The older couple in the traditional Bunad were circling the room and this is a composite portrait.

Columbia City Sketchcrawl

I managed to stay warm because the van in front of me was idling its engine and the exhaust kept me warm.
But now I have a headache.

Fall City Farms Sketchcrawl

I appreciate Pumpkins, they always brighten up the day.  It was moist out and I was surprised at how long it took the page to dry.  While sketching I was hunched over my book and I heard a familiar sound.
It was the Howdy Boys, a blue grass country band that I had seen and sketched last year.

I am including that sketch also.

Riding Rapid Ride

I started riding the Bus and it has been fun.  I have 12 minutes to fit the sketch in.
That doesn't include the time the bus is violently shaking about.  I does provide some
interesting lines.

Kenmore Air

This was a really exciting and enjoyable sketchcrawl.
