Sketching with Fear
When I am not confident of a perspective or know it is going to be a difficult view, I will at times use a pencil to sketch with. That way if I have mistakes I can correct. This particular view of Suzzallo Library, I knew would be a challenge so I didn't do it in ink. But as I recall we use to have our Architecture 210 students do a series of perspective sketches going through Suzzallo and many of them chose this view. They did it in ink and were timed as well!

This is amazing! I was too timid to tackle drawing stairs, but yours look fabulous.
ReplyDeleteAnd I love the addition of the person with the camera - enough of them sure walked by taking pics, didn't they? Very cool.
Thanks Terrie,
DeleteYes they were a part of the scene definitely.
Art and Fear. Two constant companions. I'm glad the former won out.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jane,
DeleteYes two constant companions. I think if we let go of fear it becomes a more enjoyable experience.
Lovely details and I like the profile framing of the column/base
ReplyDeleteThanks David,
DeleteThat was a great space to capture those details.
