Georgetown on Sunday

Even though the day was grey for most of the morning, it was a great location for our monthly Sketch Crawl because of the wide variety of subjects.  After my warm-up sketch of the old brewery, I wandered down toward the freeway on-ramp to sketch this older home at the corner of S. Bailey St. and Carleton Ave S.  Busy intersection for this grand old home to sit on.

After our get together/sketch book sharing and lunch at the Jules Maes Saloon, I wandered over to the Oxbow Park to paint the hat and boots.  Like Jackie I remember them as a kid, but had seen them recently when my niece was married in the park under the hat.  Somehow I feel like they should be sitting along a busy road rather than in this park setting, but they attracted many people to them during the time I was sketching.  Kids especially liked sitting on the toes of the boots.

I posted all my sketches from the day at the flickr site.
