Pike Place Market is once again overflowing with tulips and other spring flowers. I haven't been using a lot of color in my sketches lately, but this vibrant flower stall inspired me to get out my watercolors.

Seattle Center Monorail

Seattle's monorail system celebrated its 50th anniversary on March 24th. I sketched the red train while it was parked and people walked through it to observe historical photographs displayed inside. The trains are looking great after all the hard work that has been put into restoring them. Here's to another 50 years!

Alaskan Way Viaduct

I thought I would do a sketch of this section of the Alaskan Way Viaduct before it comes down. It will be interesting to watch how the landscape changes during the nine-day "Viadoom" closure of the highway.

Veterans Day

Hey fellow sketchers! Here are some sketches from my Veterans Day. I love it when the Space Needle has a flag on top. I went to the Harry Potter exhibit at the Science Center and I would recommend it to any Harry Potter fan! Along with Seattle Center I also drew a church in Everett and IKEA in Renton.

Worldwide Sketch Crawl

Nice Georgetown sketches, everyone! I unfortunately had to work in the afternoon so I stayed in Everett and participated in the worldwide sketching at Paine Field where they were having a historic flight air show. Here is an aircraft from the Historic Flight Foundation's collection, a Grumman F7F Tigercat.

I can't believe how early our spring flowers are blooming! I sketched some of the Quad cherry trees at the UW today. The building in the background is Raitt Hall.

I did a couple of quick sketches at Pike Place Market yesterday:

Chinatown Gate

I braved the cold today and did a sketch of the Chinatown gate in Seattle. I haven't done much watercolor before, but I decided to experiment with it in my sketchbook so I could capture the nice colors of the gate.
