Duck Dodge

Another glorious early evening in Seattle at the water's edge.

The panorama could have kept going, alas, running out of paper either side.

All the sailboats arriving on time for their 'dodge' in Lake Union. 

I just kept filling in more boats as they arrived.

Mixed use and working.

Our afternoons in Seattle have been lovely; 

my focus was to begin to catch the late afternoon light in the backyard.

My Sunday's are busy with teaching; 

I seem to miss those sketch outings with all the talented urban sketchers!

I will aim to attend more in the future.

skagit valley, value studies

A great day to visit the Skagit Valley; a very sunny Wednesday.

Choosing large paper and General's charcoal for my medium, a warm up and 

investigation of the values in the landscape.

Textures attempt to get simplified with the medium, 'looseness' is key.

Saturday at Interbay; a quiet section of town for a sunny Saturday.

Charcoal and sulfite paper, crazy expressive.

Grand gas works; a sister of 4 total towers.

A space that offers so many drawing concepts and simply a beautiful place to sketch.

All was quiet in the library; except that squeaky entry door; a sound of the day, for sure.

Graphite was a good media choice; I see a watercolor coming soon.

MOHAI is a winner!

Total sensory stimulation everywhere. I wasn't sure where to land; the US Mail airplane was a great subject.

While sketching, a Boeing engineer told me this was the first plane to fly commercially in the world, 

delivering mail to Victoria. 

So many views/lessons @ MOHAI; shape, form, texture, perspective, color.....

 I will, for sure, bring my drawing students here soon.
