At WSU: Lecture, Exhibit (thru April 17), & Workshop next weekend!

Last weekend I put 620 miles on the car!

WSU's School of Design + Construction in Pullman, WA kindly asked me to put up an exhibit of sketches (100+), give a lecture (which was last Monday) and teach a workshop (which is coming up, April 18-19).  It is so wonderful to have this opportunity--thank you so much to the school and to Bob Krikac and Carrie Vielle for all their hard work to make all this happen.

Printing and cutting for the exhibit.
The exhibit was really fun to see, as it shows work from the 2013 fellowship to France (the Gabriel Prize--my study was the gardens at Versailles and Vaux le Vicomte) and the 2014 NIAUSI fellowship to Civita di Bagnoregio, Italy (my project was to create an illustrated architecture walking guide to this amazing hill town!)

A long wall of sketches, most in chronological order...Civita is the closest in the image.

Some of the Gabriel Prize work.
Bob and Carrie, and Uris at the School blew up some of the sketches to a huge scale--you can almost walk into the drawings--including a series of four views of the piazza in Civita looking in each direction.  You view these by standing in a hanging "room", almost as if you were in Italy!

Some of the sketches from Versailles, including the huge enlargement of the famous Louis XIV Hall of Mirrors. Civita's Piazza is in the "room" beyond.

This coming weekend is the Workshop--
April 18, Saturday morning, an open presentation and talk on how-to sketch in perspective, open to anyone interested, free of charge
Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning, small group instruction--contact the WSU School of Design + Construction (or me) to register
April 19, Sunday afternoon, 1pm--sketchcrawl, open to anyone interested, free of charge. Meet at the student Union

I hope some of the Eastern Washington and Idaho sketchers can make it! And thank you once again to WSU.

    1. Hi Patti, it would be wonderful if you could make it! I'll have to check on the location for the Saturday morning lecture, and I can put you in touch with the WSU folks about Saturday afternoon if you are interested in that. I'm hoping the exhibit can stay up through the weekend too!
I'll send you an email shortly. Thanks!
