More from Pioneer Square…
Posting a little late due to my offering a workshop in sunny Hawaii, but here are a few of the sketches I did at our last meeting.
Olympic Sculpture Park
Last Thursday I was at Olympic Sculpture Park with my Architecture students. It was a cloudy day with the sun and sky trying to break through the clouds. Here are two versions of the sketch I did.
The first with the foreground lighter. The second with added value to the foreground. I think I like the picture better without the added value it seems more cheery. But too late...its on now. What do you think?

More Pioneer Square...
I was pretty intimidated by the Pergola so I just kept telling myself, "One line at a time."
I'm hoping to go back and give this some color sometime soon.
I love all the colors in the storefronts at Pioneer Square.
Chose the J&M because one of my sisters used to work in the cafe.
Next time I'm going for a corner shot that includes the whole scene.

2010 Syracuse, Italy, Temple of Apollo
Hello to all of you! I missed sketching with you at Pioneer Square. It's great to be able to see the drawings that have been uploaded. They look wonderful and make Seattle look so charming. My husband and I are in Sicily now and I'm including my Sketchcrawl drawing of the Temple of Apollo in Syracuse. It is surrounded by a major square where life continues to swirl around. The pillars are the most original part, others having been modified by whatever power was current. In the sun, the pillars glow with soft golden light.

Merchant Cafe
Here's my depiction of the Smith Tower. When built it was the most-windowed building west of the Mississippi, and the tallest too. If I had remembered to bring my window stamp and ink pad that would have speeded things up, but you always forget something... Hey I like old buildings as much as the next sketcher, but don't you think they have too many windows? I do now.

Pioneer Square Pergola and Laguna Vintage Pottery
Great Day at Pioneer Square and it was nice to see new people in the group. This is a view sitting under the pergola looking toward the "Sinking Ship". Fellow sketcher Guido is sitting in the foreground.
Laguna Vintage Pottery is my favorite storefront in Pioneer Square. The display of the pottery creates a beautiful mosaic of color.

View from Our Windowseat and other sketches
A few sketch entries in my book since we last met. The first is at a Choir concert for the Garfield High School Choir. This was at their new Performing Arts Auditorium, they had just come back from performing at Carnegie Hall and wanted to perform for parents.... wonderful evening... The second is from Fuel Coffee Shop in Montlake. This use to be the Montlake library! The third is from our window seat looking at the blooming crabapple tree.
